Newark, NJ Penn Station (February 19, 1971)
Here are eight vintage shots taken at Newark Penn Station on 2/19/71.
Baltimore & Ohio GP9 pulls a westbound CNJ commuter train out of Newark.

CNJ westbound passenger run headed by GP40P number 3683, still in the shed.

GG-1 #4903 arrives in Newark pulling the eastbound Southern Crescent from New Orleans.
Following the baggage car are 6 coaches, 2 sleepers (one through from Los Angeles via the SP),
and the parlor car "Leonard Calvert". The time is 12:25 PM on February 19, 1971.

Washington D.C.-bound Metroliner leaves Newark Penn Station on the fast track.(2/19/71)

The following photos are of four MU trains at Newark Penn station on 2/19/71.
They had already picked up enough speed to blur a bit with my slow-shutter box camera.
Newer Penn-Central MU headed by motor #117 leaves Newark westbound.

Vintage MU Penn-Central commuter run pulls out of Newark on the same track
as the previous photo. Trains being so frequent, I should have spent
the entire day here, if only I could have afforded more film at the time. :(

Just outside the station, this MU still sports the Pennsylvania Railroad logo.

Another platform-shot of a vintage (red logo) PRR MU already picking up speed.
